How to Install The Palmsaver Hockey Glove Repair Kit

The Palmsaver provides hockey players with a convenient way to repair worn, torn, or damaged hockey glove palms without replacing the entire glove. Designed for straightforward installation, the repair sections adhere directly to the remaining original palm material. For proper installation, approximately 50% or more of the original glove palm should still be intact.

Before beginning your hockey glove palm repair, make sure the glove is completely dry. Proper preparation and careful placement will help you achieve a secure, long-lasting repair.

Hockey Glove Palm Repair Installation Steps

The Palmsaver can typically be installed in 15 minutes or less per glove. Follow these steps carefully:

  • Prepare the glove: Remove loose or damaged material from the original palm and make sure the glove is completely dry.
  • Dry fit the repair section: Keep the release liner in place while positioning the appropriate palm, finger, or thumb section.
  • Trim when necessary: Use sharp scissors to carefully adjust the repair piece for the proper fit.
  • Install fingers and thumb first: Apply these sections before the main palm section so the palm material can overlap them.
  • Apply the palm section: Carefully position the long top edge where the fingers meet the palm, then secure the remaining material.
  • Press firmly: Apply firm pressure to all newly installed sections for several minutes, paying close attention to the edges.
  • Finish the repair: Fold the side edges over the original palm and carefully trim away excess material without cutting the glove underneath.

Replacing a Worn Palmsaver

If your Palmsaver eventually wears out, the repair can be removed and replaced. Heat the installed material with a hair dryer on high for at least two minutes, then carefully peel it away before installing a new repair. Ready to extend the life of your hockey gloves?
